The great Indian philosopher and mystic Adi Shankaracharya revived this temple and made it famous as a major pilgrimage site. It is thought that he died here at Kedarnath Temple. The principal deity of this temple is a Shiv linga and there are many paintings of Pandavas along with that of Parvati, Nandi, and other Indian gods and goddesses.
